scary story I Went Into the Basement… My Reflection Was Waiting

Jessica was pounding the iron door with all her strength, her hands bleeding, darkness swallowing everything. Behind her, heavy footsteps approached slowly. Suddenly, everything stopped. Then, her own voice whispered from the void, You're late. We've been waiting for you. The beginning.

In the town of Redville, journalist Jessica Miller moved into an abandoned house on the edge of the forest. She was investigating a series of mysterious disappearances that began 20 years ago, all linked to this house. The house was massive, its wood rotting, windows boarded up. Locals refused to go near it, saying anyone who entered never came out.

On her first day, Jessica found an old journal hidden beneath a broken floorboard. It was filled with strange notes, the last one written in shaky handwriting. Don't uncover the mirror. Don't go to the basement after midnight. Don't trust your voice. Jessica laughed, thinking it was just folklore. She had no idea every word in that journal was true. On the third night, Jessica woke to the sound of footsteps downstairs. The clock read 12.17 A.m. She grabbed her flashlight and descended into the basement. The air was unnaturally cold, heavy. In the corner, behind old shelves, she found a small iron door. She opened it and entered a dark room with a massive mirror covered in black cloth. She approached slowly and pulled the cloth away. Her reflection stared back, but didn't move with her. It was smiling, then it spoke in her voice. Finally, you've returned. Jessica backed away, tripped, and fell. The door slammed shut behind her. She tried to scream, but no sound came out. The mirror began to glow and a shadow stepped out. It looked just like her but had no eyes. It whispered, Everyone who enters becomes one of us. The walls began to shift, closing in. Voices surrounded her, crying children, screams, whispers in strange tongues. Faces appeared in the walls, some screaming, some laughing, some silently watching. She tried smashing the mirror, but it wouldn't break. She tried lighting a fire, but it wouldn't ignite. Then she remembered the journal. She turned on her flashlight and read the final line. If you want to survive, don't look into your own eyes. She shut her eyes and walked blindly through the darkness, feeling the walls. The closer she got to the door, the louder the voices became, and the colder the air grew. Then... Silence. She opened her eyes and found herself at the iron door. She pushed it with all her strength and escaped. The ending. The next morning, police arrived after a neighbor reported screams during the night. They found the basement door open, the mirror covered again. No sign of Jessica. But on the floor lay her journal, opened to a new page, written in fresh ink. I'm inside now. Don't uncover the cloth, don't look into your eyes. If you enjoyed the story, don't forget to like, subscribe, and drop a comment. Would you dare go into the basement after midnight?
