Ethan screamed as he ran through the dark hallway, his footsteps pounding against the old wooden floor that creaked ominously. Behind him, a long shadow moved with unnatural speed, heavy breaths closing in. Suddenly, the lights went out, plunging the place into complete darkness, before a distorted face appeared right behind him.
Back to the beginning.
Just a week earlier, Ethan was an American college student who had come to London on a research trip with his friend Clara. They rented an old house in a distant suburb, said to have belonged to a wealthy family that mysteriously vanished decades ago. From the outside, the house looked ordinary, but inside it was filled with strange paintings, stopped clocks, and doors that refused to open no matter how hard they tried.
On the first night, Clara heard footsteps upstairs, even though the house was empty. They ignored it, but as days passed, the events escalated, whispers in the middle of the night. Doors slamming shut on their own, reflections in mirrors that didn't match their movements.
Ethan decided to explore the basement. There he found a room sealed with rusty chains. Breaking the lock he discovered old journals belonging to the Harrison family, describing dark rituals to summon spirits.
Among the pages was a picture of a man with a distorted face and hollow eyes. Strangely, the picture seemed to move slowly, as if staring directly at him.
That night, Clara woke up to find Ethan standing before the mirror, staring at his reflection, but his reflection was smiling wickedly, while his real face remained expressionless.
Things reached their peak when they tried to leave the house. The front door had vanished, and the walls twisted into endless corridors.
The disfigured man from the journals appeared, chasing them through the halls, whispering incomprehensible words. No matter how far they ran, the house bent around them, returning them to the same spot.
Ethan shouted, We won't escape unless we face him! He grabbed the ritual journal and began reading aloud, his voice trembling, while the shadow drew closer.
Suddenly the entire house shook, paintings fell and doors slammed violently.
The ending.
At the last moment the basement collapsed and both of them fell into darkness. When they woke up they found themselves outside on the empty St.
Behind them the house had completely vanished, as if it had never existed. They looked at each other, shock written across their faces. No words were spoken, but both knew they had survived something no one would ever believe.
And that's how our terrifying story ends.
